Computational Textile Prints (2019)

“Animosity...is no Amity”

(April - June 2019)

The textile art was algorithmically generated. The Tyvek material was kindly sponsored by Smart Creations Hong Kong.

The project name is an anagram expressing how our psyche sometimes fail us and turn us into someone unrecognizable. Our loved ones get pushed away in the process of losing oneself. Inspired by psychiatric diagnoses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, in which patients fluctuates between extreme mood states, the red and blue sensory patterns represents the elated highs of mania and overwhelming lows of depression.

“Toujours Fleur”

(April - June 2019)

This design was showcased at the 3-day Design Tokyo event held at Tokyo Big Sight in 2019.

It was inspired by the growing popularity of Everlasting flowers as a replacement of traditional roses on Valentine’s Day. They are like the Tyvek material, durable and cost effective. For practical romantic users who are into the breezy yet classy aesthetic. As such, this design is suitable for both leisure and smart casual events.

The patterns on the fabric are generated algorithmically, meant to emulate the gentle forms of flowers entwined together, representing the infinity that comes with true love. This design makes great use of the vibrancy that can be achieved through printing on Tyvek to provide a rich, eye catching palette.
