Scars, Skins and Styles: Phygital Transfigurations (2024)
Developed as part of *SCAPE’s Community Arts Residency Programme, this work received the kind support of the National Arts Council, *SCAPE and the Supper House.
It was exhibited at *SCAPE from 12 - 28 January, 2024.
This Community Art Project explores life-changing experiences through the lenses of Digital Technologies and Fashion Co-Designing. Custom hyperrealistic digital avatars of participants are constructed with the help of 3D scanning technologies and generative systems, and presented in larger than life portraits. We propose new, speculative, experimental Art Therapy approaches, such as the manifestation of emotional experiences into tangible dress concepts, to harness the power of Enclothed Cognition for introspection and reinvention in the digital realm.
We believe that Fashion is an extension of one’s identity. What we put on our bodies are embodiments of our own life experiences, philosophies and convictions. By creating warm-hearted, celebratory and inclusive networks, we promote reconciliation and bridge interpersonal distances, one metamorphosis at a time. Through interactions with other people, their stories and perspectives, we can build a more vibrant dynamic and understanding society.
